Shape Sorter

A shape-sorter toy for learning flat shapes

  • Ages 2–5
  • Shapes
  • 2D game
  • Plays in the browser

Just like the classic toy: a colorful block appears, and your child drags it into the hole where it fits, or simply taps that hole. Every block gets a random color and all the holes look alike, so children learn to look at the shape itself.

Play Shape Sorter

How to play

  1. Listen to the instruction, or look at the shape clue at the top of the screen.
  2. Drag the block into the hole where it fits, or tap that hole. It drops right in.
  3. Sort five shapes to finish the game and earn stars.

What your child learns

  • Recognizing flat shapes: circle, square, triangle, star, heart, rectangle and oval
  • The names of shapes
  • Telling similar shapes apart, like a square and a rectangle
  • Hand-eye coordination, by dragging shapes into place

Grows with your child

It starts with two holes and a circle, square or triangle. Stars, hearts, rectangles and ovals join in as your child learns, more holes appear, and at the top levels the blocks arrive tilted.
